Today, the Aquatarium announces the launch of the Port of Johnstown Interactive Children's Exhibit, featuring interactive activities designed to help young minds discover the natural world around them and explore the importance of agriculture to our region, from harvesting and drying to shipping and loading.
The Port of Johnstown is very excited and honored to participate in this project to promote agriculture and marine business in the area. - Robert Dalley, General Manager of the Aquatarium.
The Port of Johnstown was built in the early 1930s and is one of Eastern Ontario's Premier Ports for truck, vessel, and rail shipping and receiving grains, salt, aggregate, and other materials.
The exhibit includes various hands-on, immersive, and creative play zones tailored for children of all ages. This Indoor exhibit promotes exploration, providing a fun way to learn about the engineering of the modern agriculture industry through physical activities. Opening to the public on March 1, 2023, the Aquatarium is proud to offer a space for children to discover, inspire curiosity, and play. "From the Combine of the Elevator and the Crane, every component of this exhibit is interactive," said Thomas Harder, Executive Director of the Aquatarium. "It has been designed to mirror the processes that happen right here in our region."
This kid-approved exhibit is designed to have something for everyone. As visitors explore the different areas of the exhibit, they'll learn about the various stages of crop movement, from Harvesting and Drying to Shipping and Receiving, and become inspired to consider careers in related fields.
